I've now been to two weddings catered by J & L and I can't say enough great things about them.  For starters, I was a bridesmaid in both weddings and I saw first hand how Rachel made the day run smoothly.  She kind of doubles as a day of coordinator, which helped both brides relax.

But really the best part is the food.  Both weddings were buffets and both had completely different feels.  The first had an asian vibe and the star of the show was a noodle dish in little take out containers.  It tasted great and looked even better.  One of the guests at that wedding had a severe peanut allergy and Rachel and her team happily obliged to make sure that nothing in the entire buffet had any peanuts or was cooked near peanuts.

The second wedding had a very fall foods type feel.  They made sweet potato cakes that I probably could have eaten a full plate of, but instead I made room for the rest of the food.  They had a vegan option made with seitan that was really rich in flavor and tasted great.  There wasn't one thing on that whole buffet table that didn't taste great.

Super professional, friendly staff, and most importantly fantastic food!

Event Designer: Rachel Razowsky |  Date: 11/5/2010  |  Event venue: Salvage One  |  Chicago

J&L Catered my wedding at Salvage One this past October.  We worked with Rachel Razowsky and I cannot say enough good things about her and the company itself.  We asked for a local, seasonal fall menu and her first stab at putting a menu together was near perfect.

I'm vegetarian with vegan tendencies and my husband eats meat, so we were trying to balance both tastes.  They made us "make your own pot pies" and both the vegan version and the beef stew (so I heard) were phenomenal.  All of the side dishes were excellent and fit the menu perfectly.  We ended with a dessert of mini seasonal pies (pumpkin, apple, berry, etc).  For a late night snack, which sadly neither my husband nor I were able to try, we got "ball park nachos" and tamales, all of which our guests reported to be tasty.

The staff were all so friendly and kind both before the event and the day of.  One of the servers even made me and my groom plates of food to ensure we had a chance to eat.  Rachel was more than accommodating with taking care of our leftover liquor and centerpieces while we were on our honeymoon.

If you are getting married or planning any type of catered event, I highly recommend J&L.  The pricing is fair and you are sure to get great service and even better food.

Val and Lindsey – Wedding

Event Designer: Scott Reichelsdorf  |  Date: 6/2/2010  |  Event venue: Center on Halsted  |  Chicago

We walked in dreading that we didn't get to choose our own caterer and had to choose from a list. We walked out with a friend! Scott and his team were amazing and made choosing the food for our less-than-normal wedding day an absolute blast!!
